Reverse engineering

Where I learned to build: taking games apart, against people paid to stop me.

From about nine to thirteen I taught myself C and C++ by reverse-engineering game binaries and building tools that worked around kernel-level anti-cheat — BattlEye, Easy Anti-Cheat, and eventually Vanguard. It was the hardest technical work I'd done, run against professional teams whose whole job was to shut me down. I stopped on my own once I realized I'd rather build things for people than against them. Pulling hard systems apart is still how I approach AI.
